If you're self-employed, you can register with Construction Benefit Services and make provision for your own long service leave.
If you were previously registered with the scheme as a worker and have become self-employed, you may be able to transfer your accrued service credits across to the self-employed contractor scheme.
You can build on these credits and take long service leave once you have accumulated 2600 days service in the construction industry.
Service days accumulated as a worker will only be preserved if you contribute to the scheme as a self-employed contractor. Registration alone will not preserve your credits.
You must register with the scheme within 6 months of commencing as a self-employed contractor.
You can preserve your worker service credits if you commence contributing to the scheme within 2 years from the date you cease employment if you have less than 5 years service (1300 days) accrued as a worker, or within 3 years if you have over 5 years. |
