Taking long service leave

Every day worked is recorded as a day's service towards your worker's long service leave. Once 2600 days service have been accrued, 13 weeks long service leave can be taken in up to 3 separate periods of no less than 2 weeks duration.

When your worker is ready to take leave, they will complete a Payment Application form.

Payment will be made by cheque or directly into their nominated bank account.

A PAYG summary will be posted to them soon after.

Please note it is illegal to employ workers who are on long service leave.

If your worker ceases employment in the construction industry and has accumulated at least 1820 days service, they can apply for pro-rata payment.

A summary is regularly sent to employers detailing the days service their workers have accrued, and how many weeks (if any) long service leave they have available to take.
