NSW Scheme - Worker Registration Cancellation
16/04/2009
The New South Wales Long Service Payments Corporation has recently issued notifications of cancellation of registration to all workers who have not recorded service with their scheme for the last 4 years.
Workers who receive cancellation notices will have the right to appeal to the independent Long Service Payments Committee against the cancellation of their registration. An appeal form will be included with notifications.
To lodge an appeal, a worker must complete the appeal form and mail it back to the Corporation with supporting documentation before 1 June 2009. Appeals will be determined by the independent Long Service Payments Committee.
After 1 June 2009, workers who have not lodged an appeal will be removed from the register of workers. Following removal they will cease to be a registered worker and any recorded service will not count towards any future entitlement.
The Corporation is urging their members to ensure they have their current address and contact details.
Further information and advice on the scheme’s operations can be obtained by contacting the Corporation’s HELPLINE on 13 14 41 or visiting the Corporation’s Website at www.lspc.nsw.gov.au
